September 21st, at the Oakport office, nineteen law enforcement officers from ten police agencies across Alameda County embraced the opportunity to undergo specialized and interactive training to become domestic violence law enforcement experts. This comprehensive four-hour training elevates detectives, sergeants and advanced officers in Alameda to a level of expertise that ensures their effectiveness when they are called upon to testify in court. Alameda County Reaches Labor Agreement With Alameda County Prosecutors Union Oakland CA. Alameda County District Attorney Charges Juveniles in Skyline High School Shooting Oakland, CA. September 15, 2023 – The Alameda County District Attorney’s Office has charged three minors in connection with a shooting at Skyline High School in Oakland on September 5, 2023. Minor defendant 1 was charged with assault with a firearm 245 (a)(2) along with gun enhancements, including shooting at an occupied area. The maximum exposure for assault with a firearm is 4 years. Minor defendant 2 was charged with minor in possession of a firearm within 1000 feet of a school along with gun possession charges, including carrying a loaded weapon in public. Alameda County District Attorney’s Office Awarded $2M Grant to Fund First-of-its-kind Model to Combat Organized Retail Theft Oakland, CA. September 14, 2023 – The Alameda County District Attorney’s Office (ACDAO) was awarded a significant two million dollar grant to fund a new prosecution unit to address the growing issue of Organized Retail Theft (ORT) in the community. The first-of-its-kind model will focus on the investigation and prosecution of organized retail theft crimes, using a vertical prosecution model. Under the grant program, a Deputy District Attorney, an Inspector II, and Senior Program Specialist will be assigned to the unit, working together to investigate and prosecute ORT cases from start to finish. “ORT cases are time intensive and complex. Alameda County Receives $7 Million From Kaiser Settlement  Oakland, CA September 11, 2023 – Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Y. Price announced a historic agreement with Kaiser Foundation Hospitals and the Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (together, “Kaiser”), resolving accusations that Kaiser improperly disposed of hazardous, medical, and universal wastes and patients’ private health information. The agreement between Kaiser, the Alameda County District Attorney’s office, the California Attorney General’s office and five other county district attorneys will resolve the lawsuit brought against Kaiser, alleging violations of California’s Unfair Business Practices law and various consumer protections laws under the California Health & Safety Code, Civil Code, Code of Regulations, as well as the HIPPA law and related regulations.
