At the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office, we review and prosecute criminal violations committed in Alameda County, bring criminal and civil actions for environmental, consumer and other violations, protect and uphold the rights of victims, and serve our community in various innovative ways (such as restorative justice projects). The Alameda County District Attorney’s Office is comprised of approximately 150 attorneys60 inspectors30 Victim-Witness advocates and claim specialists, as well as a variety of administrative, finance, and communications professionals. Our jurisdiction covers over 800 square miles and our staff work in 9 offices located throughout the County.

District Attorney Divisions

PROSECUTION DIVISION

The Prosecution Division includes prosecuting attorneys assigned to Alameda County Courthouses, including the East County Hall of Justice, the Rene C. Davidson Hall of Justice, the Wiley Manual Courthouse, and the Fremont Hall of Justice, who handle the prosecutions of felonies and misdemeanors in those respective courthouses. This Division includes specialty units for many crimes like Major Crimes, Homicides, Organized Retail Theft Vertical Prosecution, Special Prosecutions including Hate Crimes, Alameda County Narcotics Taskforce, and the Alameda County Regional Auto Theft Taskforce. The Prosecution Division is committed to preventing and prosecuting crimes and seeking justice for victims and survivors.

ADVANCING JUSTICE DIVISION

Created by District Attorney Pamela Price in June 2024, the Advancing Justice Division consists of three bureaus: the Juvenile Justice Bureau, the Civil Rights Bureau, the Consumer, Environmental, and the Special Prosecution Bureau, as well as three units including the Collaborative Courts Unit, the Insurance and Auto Fraud Unit, and the Real Estate Fraud and Elder Abuse Unit. The Advancing Justice Division focuses on non-traditional and civil/quasi-criminal cases in addition to rehabilitating members of our community both young and old who have committed crimes.

VICTIM-WITNESS ADVOCATES DIVISION

The Victim-Witness Assistance Division has trained and experienced Victim-Witness Advocates to work with victims, witnesses and their families throughout and beyond the criminal justice process. They serve as the liaison between the victims, prosecutor, law enforcement and other criminal justice agencies.

FAMILY JUSTICE CENTER

The Alameda County Family Justice Center (ACFJC), the third Family Justice Center to open in the United States. Our ACFJC operates as the heart of comprehensive service delivery system made up of 100 public and private agencies, providing a gateway to safety, healing, and empowerment for victims of abuse. We advocate for and construct a future where there is zero tolerance for domestic violence, sexual assault and exploitation, human trafficking, child abuse, stalking, and elder and dependent adult abuse.

GENDER JUSTICE DIVISION

The Gender Justice Division works to eliminate gender-based violence in Alameda County by centralizing our Sexual Assault. Domestic Violence, and Anti-Slavery vertical prosecution units along with our Victim/Witness Assistance Division and Family Justice Center under a unified leadership structure. Recognizing the intersectional nature of these complex cases allows us to maximally concentrate expert lawyers, investigators, victim advocates, and navigators in the shared mission of seeking justice for the victims and survivors of these complex and traumatic experiences while helping them rebuild their lives.

Inspector's Division

The Inspectors’ Division consists of over 70 experienced sworn officers who support the prosecutors and other staff throughout the office. Teams of inspectors are not only assigned to support prosecutions at each of the main courthouses, but also to the Consumer Justice Bureau where they are responsible for investigating consumer complaints, violations of environmental laws, and real estate crimes, among other crimes. It is the Inspector’s fundamental duty to proudly serve the community.

The Community Support Bureau was created in 2023, to expand the DAO’s engagement with community groups and residents. The Community Support Bureau is dedicated to fostering positive relationships between the DAO and the community. Through various outreach programs and services, educational initiatives, and partnerships with local organizations, the bureau aims to promote crime prevention, victim advocacy, and community engagement. Their efforts focus on empowering residents, providing, resources, and addressing community concerns to enhance public safety and well-being across Alameda County.
