Oakland- Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price announced that a jury returned guilty verdicts against Carlos Gomez-Avalos (31) for the 2023 attack and sexual assault of a female victim. The Jury found Mr. Gomez-Avalos guilty of one count of forced oral copulation and one count of corporal injury on a relationship partner.

“I want to thank the jury for their hard work and thoughtful deliberation in rendering these guilty verdicts against Mr. Gomez-Avalos,” said DA Pamela Price. “Data from the CDC’s National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Survey indicates that about 41% of women experienced sexual violence by intimate partner during their lifetime. That is why my office remains focused on prosecuting serious cases and providing services to survivors of domestic violence in Alameda County.”
Carlos Gomez-Avalos faces up to 7 years in prison. He is scheduled to be sentenced on November 25, 2024, in Department 12, at the René C. Davidson Courthouse in Oakland.
