DA URSULA JONES DICKSON CHARGES MAN WITH THE ATTEMPTED MURDERS OF FIVE OAKLAND POLICE OFFICERS
Charges Include Multiple Gun Enhancements

Oakland, CA — Today, District Attorney Ursula Jones Dickson announced that the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office has charged Jesse Fahrner (54) with multiple counts of attempted premeditated murder and shooting at Oakland Police Officers with a semiautomatic handgun.
Mr. Fahrner is charged with five counts of attempted willful, deliberate, and premeditated murder of a peace officer engaged in the performance of their duty and five additional counts of assault on a peace officer with a semiautomatic firearm. These charges include sentencing enhancements for firing a gun. Finally, Mr. Fahrner is charged with two counts of felony child abuse.
On August 8, 2025, Mr. Fahrner is alleged to have shot a gun at Oakland Police Officers who were responding to a 911 dispatch related to a domestic disturbance at an apartment complex on West Grand Avenue. Mr. Fahrner allegedly fired his weapon from inside a residence, nearly hitting officers after they knocked on the front door and announced themselves as Oakland Police. At the time that he fired his gun it is alleged that the residence was occupied by Mr. Fahrner, an adult female, and two children.
Jesse Fahrner is scheduled for arraignment on August 12, 2025, at 9 a.m. in Department 112 of the Wiley Manuel Courthouse in Oakland.
