Oakland, California — Alameda County District Attorney Ursula Jones Dickson announced today that the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office filed multiple felony charges against Christobal Hernandez Canas (22), Ismael Fernando Garcia (20), and Oscar Alfaro Garcia (23) for their roles in the theft, dismantling, and removal of parts from multiple vehicles, which were then abandoned in Union City and surrounding areas.
The investigation by Union City Police led to the recovery of multiple vehicles and numerous stolen automobile parts. As a result, the District Attorney’s office filed a complaint against the three men, alleging, amongst other things, 40 felony counts, including the unlawful taking of cars, receipt of stolen property, vandalism, and operating a chop shop.
“I want to commend and thank the Union City Police Department for its outstanding investigative work, persistence, and dedication to public safety, which led to the identification, disruption, and prosecution of this sophisticated auto theft ring,” said District Attorney Ursula Jones Dickson.
All three men were arraigned today on the felony complaint and will next appear in Alameda County Superior Court, East County Hall of Justice, Department 702, on Monday, September 14, 2026, at 9 a.m. for attorney and plea.
