Oakland, CA — Today, Alameda County District Attorney Ursula Jones Dickson announced that the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office has charged Aleem Spencer (45) with two shootings in Oakland in August 2026.
On August 30, 2026, Oakland police responded to a report that a man armed with a hammer was in a park threatening to kill a woman. When police approached, Mr. Spencer fired several rounds at the officers and fled on foot. Mr. Spencer then entered a nearby residence and threw containers of flammable liquid at the officers, starting a fire that engulfed much of the residence. Mr. Spencer has been charged with attempted murder, assault on a police officer, and arson.
Mr. Spencer has also been charged with a separate shooting. On August 1, 2026, Oakland Police were alerted that shots had been fired in the 600 block of 34th Street. Once on scene, police located the victim, who had been shot in the abdomen, back, and arm. Police arrested Mr. Spencer as the person responsible for the shooting. Mr. Spencer has been charged with attempted murder and assault with a firearm in connection with this incident.
Aleem Spencer is to appear for arraignment on September 9, 2026, at 9:00 A.M. in Department 112 of the Alameda County Superior Court at the Wiley W. Manuel Courthouse in Oakland.
