Oakland, CA — Today, Alameda County District Attorney Ursula Jones Dickson announced that the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office has filed multiple felony charges, including murder and four counts of attempted murder, against Jose Jesus Rodriguez for his involvement in a series of stabbings that took place on August 24, 2026, near the Fruitvale BART Station.

On August 24, 2026, BART and Oakland Police officers responded to the vicinity of the BART Station and nearby Cesar Chavez Park where they located the five stabbing victims. One victim died from his wounds; the others sustained serious injuries from the knife attack.

Eyewitness and video evidence enabled police to promptly identify and arrest the defendant.

“I am deeply saddened for the victims and their families who are suffering unimaginable pain and loss from this senseless act of violence,” said District Attorney Ursula Jones Dickson.

Jose Jesus Rodriguez is scheduled to appear for arraignment on August 28, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. in Department 112 of the Alameda County Superior Court, Wiley W. Manuel Courthouse in Oakland.
