DA URSULA JONES DICKSON ANNOUNCES CHARGES IN HAYWARD HOMICIDE COLD CASE
Charges Include Gun Sentencing Enhancements

Oakland, CA — District Attorney Ursula Jones Dickson announces that the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office has filed murder charges against Anthony Fox (56) and Veronica Fonseca (54) for the June 17, 1993, shooting death of Mr. Zachary Jackson in his home in unincorporated Hayward.
The charges against both defendants include murder and first-degree residential burglary. Mr. Fox’s allegations include sentencing enhancements for using a gun and inflicting great bodily injury. Ms. Fonseca’s allegations include sentencing enhancements for being armed with a gun.
“This is really a story of collaboration with law enforcement. I am extremely grateful to Sheriff Yesenia Sanchez, the investigators at the Sheriff’s Office, the District Attorney’s Organized Crime Unit, and all of the agencies, in and out of the state, for their roles in bringing this cold case to a close”, said DA Jones Dickson. “We cannot forget that victims desire and require closure in cases. This is a case that took 32 years to resolve, but murder has no limit on when we can charge you.”
Arrangements are being made for Anthony Fox and Veronica Fonseca to be transported back to Alameda County, where they will be arraigned in court.
