Man Charged with Murder for the Shooting Death of a Victim Seated Behind the Wheel of a Minivan in Oakland
Charges Include a Gun Use Enhancement. Alleged Shooter Faces up to 36 Years to Life in Prison

OAKLAND, CA—Today, DA Pamela Price announced Justin Jenkins (43), has been charged with the May 5, 2024, murder of Michael Seymour (61), who was shot to death while stopped at an intersection in a minivan near the Rene C. Davidson Courthouse in Oakland.
Mr. Jenkins is charged with 187(a) Murder, a Gun Use Allegation, Shooting into an Occupied Vehicle, and Felony in Possession of a Firearm, along with a gun enhancement that potentially adds 10 years to his sentence. Prosecutors allege that Mr. Jenkins shot Mr. Seymour in an unprovoked act of deadly violence and that Mr. Jenkins has a long history of gun violence in Alameda County.
“Gun violence, especially senseless violence involving motorists is totally unacceptable in our community,” said DA Pamela Price. “Our prosecutors reviewed the evidence in this case and filed the appropriate charges in our pursuit of justice for Mr. Seymour and his family. I commend the Oakland Police officers for their swift and thorough investigation and prompt arrest of the alleged shooter.”
If convicted of all of the charges, Mr. Jenkins faces a potential prison sentence of 36 years and 8 months to life.
