September 15, 2026 – Oakland, California — Alameda County District Attorney Ursula Jones Dickson announced today that the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office has filed felony charges against Derrick Walker (28) for an attempted armed robbery and shooting at an Oakland market, as well as a separate robbery and assault of an elderly woman (77).
On August 19, 2026, Walker entered Sky Market at 2645 14th Avenue in Oakland, armed with an assault rifle. Walker demanded money and fired several rounds. Fortunately, no one was injured.
On August 27, 2026, Walker robbed an elderly woman of her shoulder bag and its contents on 8th Avenue in Oakland. During the robbery, the victim was assaulted and knocked to the ground, resulting in injuries.
Walker has been charged with robbery, assault with a firearm, possession of an assault rifle, and being a felon in possession of a firearm. In addition, Walker has three prior felony convictions for robbery.
The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned on September 16, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. in the Superior Court of California, County of Alameda, in Department 112, at the Wiley W. Manuel Courthouse in Oakland.
