Victim Witness Advocate

The Alameda County District Attorney’s Office is seeking a dedicated and professional individual to join our team as a Victim Witness Advocate. The role of an advocate is to assist victims and witnesses in navigating the criminal justice system. The mission of the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office is public safety and victim advocacy. This position requires a bachelor’s degree or higher preferably in social work, psychology, criminal justice or a related behavioral science. The candidate must pass the background investigation. Prior advocacy experience as well as completion of a 40 hour domestic violence or sexual assault certificate program is preferred. Language skills in more than one language is highly desired.

The Victim Witness Advocate provides the following state-mandated services: crisis intervention, emergency assistance, information about victim rights, notification of case status, court accompaniment and support, resource and referral information to community agencies, criminal justice system orientation, property return assistance, and assistance in filing for California State Compensation (CalVCB) under the Victim of Violent Crimes Act. Additional duties include community outreach and training for community agencies.
