Man Charged in Domestic Violence Case Faces 14 Years to Life in State Prison October 24, 2024 OAKLAND, CA — Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price announced that Guillermo Renderos (34) is charged with the stabbing attack of his wife while she held their baby in her arms in Castro Valley. Prosecutors charged Mr. Renderos with premeditated attempted murder, corporal injury to a relationship partner, kidnapping, and child abuse and an enhancement for use of a deadly weapon and an enhancement for great bodily injury. Evidence Appears to Show Cover-Up of Previous Charges of Discrimination Against Jewish and Black Jurors October 23, 2024 Oakland, CA—Today,  DA Pamela Price announced that attorneys assigned to review the office’s death penalty cases found evidence revealing that instead of investigating claims of prosecutorial misconduct—excluding Jewish and Black residents from juries, a former senior Alameda County District Attorney’s Office prosecutor who is now a sitting judge in Alameda County, Morris Jacobson, and a team of investigators appeared to have taken part in covering it up. Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price Announces $7.5 Million Settlement Agreement with Walmart Over Improper Disposal of Hazardous Waste and Medical Waste

October 22, 2024 Oakland, CA—Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price, the California Attorney General’s Office, and eleven other prosecutors' offices secured a $7.5 million settlement with Walmart on behalf of the People of the State of California. The settlement resolves allegations that Walmart unlawfully disposed of hazardous waste and medical waste from its facilities statewide to municipal landfills. Walmart agreed to pay $4,297,040 in civil penalties and $3,202,960 in costs, to be split among the prosecuting agencies, the California Department of Toxic Substances Control, and some local environmental protection agencies. There are nine Walmart stores in Alameda County. The settlement is the result of over 70 covert waste inspections conducted by the district attorneys’ offices statewide from 2015 through 2021, including many assisted by Alameda County District Attorney’s Office environmental protection investigators. Prosecutors charged Mr. Stevenson with murder, felony unlawful firearm activity, and felony carrying a loaded firearm in public. Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price Announces The Fix and Facts for a Backlog of Misdemeanor Cases October 16, 2024 Oakland, CA—Today, Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price announced the fix and facts for a backlog of misdemeanor cases recently reported at the Wiley Manuel Courthouse in Oakland. When DA Price hired Senior Assistant District Attorney Evanthia Pappas as the new branch head at the Family Justice Center in early 2023, the team discovered significant backlogs in domestic violence cases, which pose the highest risk of lethality if left unaddressed as well as U-Visa applications.
