Defendant Faces Up to 7 Years in Prison November 4, 2024 Oakland- Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price announced that a jury returned guilty verdicts against Carlos Gomez-Avalos (31) for the 2023 attack and sexual assault of a female victim. The Jury found Mr. Gomez-Avalos guilty of one count of forced oral copulation and one count of corporal injury on a relationship partner. The evidence presented by prosecutors showed that Mr. Gomez-Avalos attacked the female victim as after she returned home. Defendant Faces 25 Years to Life in Prison November 26, 2024 Oakland, CA–Today, Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price announced that a jury returned a guilty verdict against Louis Woods III (35) for the 2022 shooting death of Brian “Marquis” Moore outside Cunha’s Cocktails in San Leandro. The jury found Mr. Woods guilty of second-degree murder with a gun enhancement. The testimony and evidence presented at trial established that on the evening of March 25, 2022, Mr. Woods arrived at the bar with an assault rifle in his backpack and shot Mr. Moore with that gun after an altercation occurred between Mr. Woods' father and Mr. Moore. Mr. Smith-King is charged with one count of human trafficking of a minor and two counts of pimping a minor, all felonies. These charges stem from a police investigation that culminated in Mr. Smith-King's recent arrest.
