Dublin, CA—The Alameda District Attorney’s Office has charged Larry Jose Lopez (43) with murder in connection with the shooting death of Rolando Jose Silva (68). Mr. Lopez is also charged with an enhancement for the alleged use of a firearm causing great bodily injury and death to the victim in this case.
The criminal complaint alleges that on or about February 2, 2025, Mr. Lopez, personally and intentionally used a gun to shoot and kill Mr. Silva. The two men have allegedly known each other for approximately 25 years. The deadly shooting occurred in Mr. Silva’s home in Hayward, where he was pronounced dead by first responders from the Hayward Fire Department.
“This is a tragic case of a man being killed in his own home by an act of gun violence,” said Chief Assistant District Attorney Royl Roberts. “Prosecutors in this office will not rest from pursuing justice for victims of firearms-related crimes, as long as there are people willing to use a gun to harm members of our community.”
Larry Jose Lopez was arraigned on February 5, 2025, in Department 702 at the East County Hall of Justice in Dublin. If convicted of the murder and gun enhancement charges and sentenced, Mr. Lopez faces up to 50 years-to-life years in state prison.
