Oakland, CA—The Alameda County District Attorney’s Office has charged Tommy Ramsey (33) with a deadly shooting that killed two men during a child custody dispute in Oakland. The charges include enhancements for using a gun and a previous conviction. Mr. Ramsey is charged with one count of murder for the death of Jason Markel Wills and one count of murder for the death of Nathanuel Jamar Wills. The charges include special allegations for use of a firearm, personal and intentional discharge of a firearm causing great bodily injury, and two strikes (one prior) connected to the death of Jason Markel Wills. The charges also include special allegations for use of a firearm, personal and intentional discharge of a firearm causing great bodily injury, and two strikes (one prior) connected to the death of Nathanuel Jamar Wills.

The criminal complaint alleges that on or about December 20, 2024, Mr. Ramsey allegedly shot and killed the two brothers, Jason Markell Wills and Nathanuel Jamar Wills, during a dispute with the mother of the defendant’s child.

“This is another tragic example of the irreversible and deadly consequences of someone using a gun to settle a dispute,” said Chief Assistant District Attorney Royl Roberts. “No family should have to endure the heartbreak of losing a loved one to gun violence in our community.”

Tommy Ramsey is scheduled to return to court for a plea hearing on January 27, 2024, at 9 AM, in Department 112, at Wiley Manuel Courthouse in Oakland. If convicted of all charges and sentenced, Mr. Ramsey faces up to 130 years-to-life plus 8 months in state prison.
